Dinner at Jamie's

Last week for my mate Anny's birthday we went for dinner at Jamie's Italian. As it was her birthday, she chose, obviously. Now, I'm not one for choosing an Italian restaurant to go and have dinner (especially over say an awesome Chinese or Thai joint) as I always saw it as seriously simple food that I can make at home for half the price or even more. Which I guess everything is when it comes down to it. Nevertheless, I am glad she choose Jamie's, as I was thoroughly pleased with what I randomly chose and knew that I would not be making that myself anytime soon!
I could definitely taste the freshness of the pasta and the delicious, oh so delicious crab with its accompanying ingredients. I got a large and wanted more! Was not feeling the portion size to be honest. But still loved it. Great vibe, great food equals good times.

A sort of bird's eye view of our grub! We ordered (from bottom left clockwise) the crab spaghettini, prawn linguine, vongole tagliolini, Jimmy's farm Italian sausage, posh chips, funky chips and spring pea and mint ravioli. And yes, we all agree that they were as delicious as they look!

A beautiful sight. My crab spaghettini.
It felt like it was gone in 60 seconds!

Everything was  so fresh and tasty! Great job chefs!
Now on to the desert. We all decided to get the same epic brownie- but with different ice cream flavors. After having it, I fully understood why they called it epic. Because it is. The warmness of the chocolate sauce combined with the moist brownie and fresh cold vanilla ice cream made it so good, this too was gone in 60 seconds. The popcorn was a added bonus, giving the desert some crunch.

Regarding the interior, I absolutely loved it. I felt like I was in a fully functioning kitchen and pantry all in one. It felt very homely indeed, and the booth we got made the night extra special. We went to the one located in Covent Garden (seems like we have a thing for Covent Garden haha) which is surrounded by beautiful street garnishing- I'm talking about the flowers. At night, it really lightened up the place! You should go and see it if you are able to get to Covent Garden.

Outfit wise, I just bunged on what was closest to me! I love this jumper dress, it's very comfy and warm, but cannot be worn alone- it's far to short. I paired it with my mini bodycon skirt just to keep the look cute and simple.

Blurry, but you get it!
With the birthday girl! Thanks for being in London on your birthday, another reason to go out and celebrate! :D

Stay blessed, blessed ones.

Joe's Southern Kitchen & Bar

Located in the heart of Covent Garden is this awesome American restaurant. It is a SOUTHERN American restaurant (not South America haha) which I say makes it that much more epic! Everything was fried with an inch of its life, and I got to say- I really enjoyed it. I didn't get the chance to visit places such as Atlanta and Louisiana whilst I was in the States, and, watching a lot of Man v Food made me really want to go to this place after finding it online!!

What should I order? There was a vast variety of chicken haha!
The interior of the restaurant was really nice. It portrayed Southern American culture very well I reckon. It was very dark, warm and kind of homely. It made me feel comfortable and relax! It's not a massive restaurant, but that's irrelevant as you feel secluded at your table with your mates- well I did!

Now on to the food! We pigged out! Seriously. We got excited reading the menu- it took us back to the States and we wanted to try everything! We got lots of yummy yummy starters to share (though the others didn't like the cornbread, so I had that all to myself), and our very large mains and sexy cocktails. I got a strawberry daiquiri of course! Wouldn't have minded a larger glass though...

Our drinks: Coke, Strawberry daiquiri, Virgin mojito.

Our snacks/starters: Popcorn shrimp, Corn bred, Coq 'n' balls and Southern friend wings. The wings were everything! So succulent  crispy and meaty! And with the homemade BBQ sauce they were more than everything! They could be had for breakfast, lunch and dinner in my opinion!!

Our mains: (left) Chicken under a brick w/ Southern fried potatoes, Joe's Long Horn burger, and mine- Joe's Southern Fried Chicken! My mains was so good and seriously filing- I took two big pieces home, and that was half a bird!! Imagine I got a whole!! I'm not much of a potato person, but these well seasoned, soft potatoes hit the spot!

Let me know if you go/have been to Joe's!! :D

The Netherlands-Day One.

I AM BACK! Yes! I am back! Haha. Apologies for ignoring you lovely people and shame on me for not blogging more. I can't believe I didn't blog for the whole month of June! (tut tut Shannie!)... I am forgiven?

Well, since my last post, life has been pretty chill- thank God. I have finished my exams (can we say academic weight lost! :D), moved out of my university accommodation and got back to work. I now have time to chill- a mate of mine said that I should 'appreciate the chill', which I guess I am doing before I know things get hectic again. It is lovely to be surrounded by my family again, no matter how much my little sis annoys me. Oh, and I went to The Netherlands, that's what this post is really about- so lets get to it! Haha.

I love flying! Could be on a plane forever!
Seven fellow (and now former) undergraduate law students and myself, along with two of our law lectures spent a few days in The Netherlands to attend court proceedings and have audiences with some very senior, highly respectable people in the international criminal law field. That was the educational part of the trip, the other part was to experience Dutch life and its attractions in the short time we had there. Three of us decided to fly there (JUST slightly more than the return coach ticket!) and we arrived a day early. The first day was nice and very chilled. We met other travelers and had fun with them in the city of Amsterdam!

Arrival outfit!
Disco pants, Crop Top, Jacket, Bag- all Primark

I went for a comfy look to travel in (obviously-why wouldn't you?!) and also a look I can continue to wear when I reached my destination- though I changed my top once we reached our hostel, as it was seriously windy.

his artwork was seriously dope!

really admired the intricate detail of this ring- shame about the extortionate price!

Dinnertime!! Majority of workers were Assuie!

Stripe shirt- boutique in NYC.
Go big or go home!
S IS FOR SHANTÉ! Night fun on the 'I AMSTERDAM' sign.

I wanted some Magnum! Shame it was closed, I would have brought the shop!
Dress- Primark.
That's day one done! It was fun! Nice introduction into Amsterdam life. We had an early start though- we had to catch the train to The Hague (Den Haag) to meet the others and go to the ICTY! That's for the next post! Stay tuned!
